Delle Donne named Academic All-American of the Year
Elena Delle Donne, a human services major with a 3.60 cumulative grade point average, was selected as the Academic All-American of the Year for NCAA Division I women’s basketball and named to the Capital One Academic All-American first team.
As a Dean’s List student and a soon-to-be three-time member of the CAA Academic Honor Roll, Delle Donne is the first UD student-athlete in any sport to be named the Academic All-American of the Year.
“Every one knows the kind of outstanding player Elena is by watching her on the court night in and night out,” said Delaware head coach Tina Martin. “But what makes winning an award like this so special is that it shows the kind of person and student she is off the court as well. Her commitment and work ethic to the game of basketball is exceptional but she works every bit as hard on the academic side and it shows. I know this is an award that she will cherish as much as any of the others that she has earned. We are proud of her in so many ways.”
Congratulations to the entire UD Women’s Basketball team for a great season!
