UD will host Delaware education conference for middle school, high school and college students

For the first time, the University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) will host the Delaware Educators Rising education conference for middle school, high school and college students Feb. 21-22 at Trabant University Center in Newark.

The Delaware chapter of Educators Rising is a career and technical student organization affiliated with the Delaware Department of Education and the Delaware Teacher Academies. The organization provides middle school, high school and college students interested in education careers with the opportunity to participate in professional development events, engage in educational competitions and expand their experiences as rising educational professionals.

With a commitment to supporting teacher preparation across the state, CEHD sponsors the event annually and is proud to host the conference this year.

“Supporting and inspiring Delaware students in their teacher education journey—so that they can make a meaningful difference as educators in their communities—is an essential part of the university’s work, and we’re thrilled to do this through the Educators Rising conference,” said Jamie Bailey, CEHD recruiter for teacher preparation programs and coordinator of UD’s participation this year.

The event will include workshops, instructional presentations, competitions, networking events, admissions resources, a college fair and a UD prep rally for conference participants, with UD faculty and staff serving as presenters, judges and education mentors for participants. The competitions will be held on Feb. 21, and the presentations and award ceremonies will be held on Feb. 22.
