Educators from across Delaware attend the 2022 Policy and Practice Institute at Dover High School.

UD hosts conference with Delaware Department of Education and Delaware Association of School Administrators

In partnership with the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE), the Delaware Association of School Administrators, and the UD Partnership for Public Education, the Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL), housed within the University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development’s School Success Center, will host the 21st annual Policy and Practice Institute on June 21, 2023, at Dover High School in Dover, Delaware.

The conference is Delaware’s premier networking and professional learning event for educators, school leaders and policymakers across the state. This year’s event, themed “Inspired to Action,” will empower participants to make a positive impact in their communities by providing practical tools and resources, especially for creating more equitable learning opportunities for all students. Sessions will focus on building school, family and community partnerships, recruiting and retaining educators, supporting student and staff well-being and more.

“Our planning committee is proud of this year’s program,” said Alison Travers, associate director of DASL. “This year, our event will feature more than 14 poster sessions and 50 breakout sessions, offering plenty of opportunity for participants to learn from colleagues across the state of Delaware and nationally. Moreover, we look forward to welcoming more than 600 participants at this event — by far the largest annual conference to date — as we celebrate their successes in the past school year.”

The event will also include remarks from Mark Holodick, DDOE secretary of education and CEHD alumnus, and a keynote address from Adam Welcome, an education speaker, author and blogger.
