CEHD Center Reports on Chronic Absenteeism

In a recent article in The Sun Journal, CEHD’s Center for Research in Education and Social Policy is cited as a resource on chronic absenteeism. The article discusses chronic absenteeism at Telstar, a public high school in Bethel, Maine, and cites CRESP research on the adverse effects of these continued absences on students.

The article notes that, according to CRESP, “Over the long term, chronic absenteeism is correlated to increased rates of high school dropout, adverse health outcomes and poverty in adulthood, and an increased likelihood of interacting with the law.”
