Sam Prough
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Sam Prough is a postdoctoral research fellow in the College of Education and Human Development’s School of Education at the University of Delaware. Their research focuses on how to support students’ mathematical learning by examining how teachers and families engage children in learning activities. In particular, Prough examines how elementary teachers develop and reflect on their instructional practice related to supporting rich mathematical discussions. They also study how parents’ past mathematics experiences influence their interactions with young children within the context of gendered and racialized expectations.
Before joining UD, Dr. Prough previously taught high school mathematics. They currently work with preservice and in-service elementary teachers with a focus on facilitating classroom discussions.
