The University of Delaware hosts a number of events welcoming our graduate students to campus, helping them to navigate their programs.

Below is a list of events sponsored by a number of departments. Please review the options carefully to determine which events apply to you.

Note: classes begin on Tuesday, August 30 at 8 a.m.


Graduate Student Orientation Events

Wednesday, August 24: Orientation program will be conducted by the Office of Graduate and Professional Education for all new full-time graduate students (required) at Clayton Hall , 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m. The program will end with an ice cream social.

Thursday, August 25: The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) New Graduate Student Orientation aimed at part-time students will be held in 135 Willard Hall Education Building from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Friday, August 26:   Orientation Program by OISS for new International Graduate Students is at Trabant University Center (8:00 a.m.); attendance is required for all new international students.

Friday, August 26:   On-boarding for other new funded graduate students not previously on-boarded; Drop in between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Perkins Student Center. Onboarding is the process to establish new graduate assistants in the payroll system. If you cannot attend and you have an assistantship, you will need to contact Human Resources (www.udel.edu/onboarding ) to make alternate arrangements to be on-boarded.

Monday, August 29: The CEHD will have a new graduate student orientation session for new full-time from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Trabant University Center Multipurpose Room A (MPR), followed by a graduate student welcome dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. next door in MPR B. Attendance is expected for new full-time CEHD grad students. Parking is available for an hourly rate at the Trabant University Center parking garage.

 

Several of CEHD’s academic programs hold their own orientations. Please attend if you are in one of these programs:

Ed.D students will have a brief meeting with Dr. Jackie Wilson at the conclusion of the orientation session – Thursday, August 25.

Human Development and Family Studies is hosting a New Graduate Student Orientation. Monday, August 29, 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in 220 Alison Hall.

MA-TESL program orientation:  Attendance at this session is expected for all new MA-TESL students and will be conducted by Dr. Scott Stevens, faculty program director of the MA-TESL program.  Monday, August 29 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the English Language Institute (ELI) at 108 E. Main Street (room 201). Please be aware that the ELI has several locations and 108 East Main Street is at the intersection of Academy Street and East Main Street.

School Psychology program orientation at 1:00 p.m. on August 29 in 220 Willard Hall Education Building.

The Ph.D. in Education program will hold an orientation on Friday, September 2, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., during the normal EDUC 838 meeting time.
