Art Therapy Express Program, Inc.

The Art Therapy Express Program mission is to facilitate creative expression for individuals with disabilities through innovative art programs. With a 13-year nonprofit history and 30 years of Master’s Level experience Art Therapy Express is dedicated to introducing adaptive technology and providing programs that support ALL individuals to communicate through the arts increasing self-esteem, communication, socialization, academic learning, arts proficiency, and joy.

Art Therapy Express provides therapeutic, multidisciplinary arts programs in schools, non-profit organizations throughout Delaware, and within our own adapted art studio. We serve over 1,000 children and adults with mild to severe physical, intellectual, emotional and communication disabilities annually. ATE utilizes innovative, adaptive technology to allow students with mild to severe disabilities, even those individuals with limited verbal and motor skills, to create art as independently as possible. Our vision is to introduce expressive art to participants who might not, due to a physical, intellectual or communication disability, have the opportunity to create art. With proper positioning, art media that is within reach, and the use of adaptive technology and holding devices our participants are empowered to their maximum potential of independence and self-expression. This organization is located within the Absalom Jones Community Center.
