UD Stigma and Health Inequities Lab
We aim to contribute to research that: (1) promotes understanding of how stigma is associated with health inequities, and (2) identifies strategies to help intervene in stigma and health inequities to promote the wellbeing of people living with socially devalued characteristics. Much of our work focuses on people at risk of or living with chronic illnesses including HIV, but we also work with members of other socially marginalized and devalued groups (e.g., people with substance use disorders, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQ+, people from minority racial/ethnic groups). We aim to conduct high quality, impactful research. We draw on a range of research methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and experiments. We collaborate with other researchers at UD, at other institutions in the U.S. (e.g., California, Connecticut, Massachusetts), and in other countries (e.g., Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa).
