We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides at-risk teens with entrepreneurial jobs while supplying urban city communities with access to fresh produce and healthy goods. Our target geographical area in Wilmington, Delaware has a resident population of around 17,000 and 20,000 working professionals. Public community green spaces and retail outlets for healthy goods and fresh produce are virtually non-existent, and over 75% of residents in this area live more than a half a mile away from a grocery store. This is called a food desert. Nutrition education is scarce and many residents don’t have the awareness nor knowledge base to successfully integrate healthy foods into their household. Working professional are looking for quick and quality healthy goods but they struggle with finding it. At-risk teens living in many of the neighborhoods in Wilmington have found it difficult to escape the negative influences of their environment and find entrepreneurial employment opportunities.
