Chairperson of Human Development and Family Studies 

HDFS invites nominations and applications for a department chair.  We seek a visionary senior scientist with a strong applied research program who can provide strong, dynamic, and innovative leadership to advance the Department’s research, teaching, and clinical practice to advance its reputation and national visibility.  A review of applications will begin on October, 1, 2013 and will continue until the position is filled. 

Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Studies–Applied Adolescent Development

We are looking for candidates with an earned doctorate in human development and family studies, applied developmental psychology, life span development, public health, behavioral health, community psychology, clinical psychology, social work, or related fields. Applicants must demonstrate an active, ongoing program of applied or translational research and have established success or strong potential in attracting external funding for their research.  Expertise and accomplishments in any of the following areas will be considered: applied adolescent development, positive youth development, risk and resilience in adolescents, adolescent health, community risk reduction, protective factors in adolescent development, adolescent substance use and abuse prevention, adolescent-institutional connections, or prevention programming with youth and their families.

Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education

Our award winning Mathematics Education program is seeking an ambitious and creative colleague in Mathematics Education with broad interests in improving education. Responsibilities include sustaining a ground-breaking and vigorous research program in mathematics learning or teaching, supervising doctoral research, and teaching effectively in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching responsibilities include graduate courses in mathematics learning and teaching and undergraduate courses in mathematics and mathematics methods for elementary and middle school education majors.

Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Special Education

The School of Education invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Special Education. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Special Education or a related field and a research focus on children or adolescents with disabilities or students at risk for disabilities. Specific areas of research interest may include, but are not limited to, literacy, mathematics, assessment, content area learning, behavior disorders, or culturally and linguistically diverse learners with disabilities.

The individual hired for this position will engage in a systematic program of research on topics of national importance, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and advise master’s and doctoral students. At the undergraduate and masters levels, we are particularly interested in candidates with the ability to teach courses on evidence-based instructional practices. At the doctoral level, faculty can participate in PhD specializations such as Literacy and Learning Problems, Learning Sciences, and Sociocultural and Community Approaches.  We welcome individuals who have an interdisciplinary approach that will foster collaboration.
